GeorgiaSAF
Technology

FROM WOODY BIOMASS
TO AVIATION FUEL.

A planned conversion route built around gasification, syngas conditioning, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and upgrading.

GeorgiaSAF™ | A CarbonCore Company

The conversion route

FIVE STAGES.
ONE INTEGRATED PATHWAY.

The following explains the planned process at a high level. The project’s technical configuration and engineering remain under development.

  1. GASIFICATION

Prepared woody biomass is converted into synthesis gas, or syngas, a mixture that includes carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

  2. SYNGAS CONDITIONING

The gas is cleaned and conditioned to meet the requirements of the downstream synthesis process.

  3. FISCHER-TROPSCH SYNTHESIS

Conditioned syngas is converted into hydrocarbons through catalytic synthesis.

  4. UPGRADING

The resulting hydrocarbons are processed and separated to produce the intended aviation fuel fraction.

  5. SAF

The aviation fuel component must meet the applicable specifications. Blending and fuel qualification requirements form part of the pathway to aviation use.

Engineering the whole facility

INTEGRATION
MATTERS.

The development work must establish how feedstock preparation, conversion, utilities, product handling and fuel qualification fit together.

Technical diligence and engineering will inform the final process configuration and performance basis. Environmental performance and fuel qualification must be established for the specific development.

Technology providers and delivery arrangements will be named publicly when approved for disclosure.
